Tham dự, có đại diện của Lãnh sự quán Mỹ tại Việt Nam, Cục trưởng Cục Phòng chống HIV/AIDS, các học viên là những Giám đốc, phó Giám đốc, bác sĩ của các Trung tâm Phòng chống HIV/AIDS và các bệnh viện của 17 tỉnh miền Trung. Các nội dung của chương trình tập huấn như: Tình hình HIV ở Việt nam-cơ hội và thách thức; Nghiên cứu dịch tể học; Lao và HIV- Chẩn đoán, dịch tể học, điều trị và dự phòng; Giới thiệu về thống kê Y học…sẽ được các Giáo sư, Tiến sĩ của Trường Đại học Y tế Công cộng Texas và các Tiến sĩ, bác sĩ, Dược sĩ Việt Nam tham gia giảng dạy và trợ giảng. Lớp tập huấn kéo dài trong 05 ngày và đây là lần đầu tiên tập huấn về Nghiên cứu và Can thiệp dự phòng HIV/AIDS được tổ chức tại BVTW Huế nhằm nâng cao năng lực lập kế hoạch dự án nghiên cứu công đồng về HIV/AIDS cho các cán bộ làm công tác phòng chống HIV/AIDS của các tỉnh miền Trung
